  • DO compost:

    • printer, parchment, and tissue paper

    • paper bags

    • napkins, tissues

    • paper towels, toilet paper, and their rolls

    • cardboard (make sure there is no tape!)

    • certified compostable paper plates, bowls, and silverware

    • paper egg cartons, pizza boxes

      • FUN-GI FACT: Grease on cardboard pizza boxes renders them unrecyclable. But composting saves the day!

    DO NOT compost:

    • paper towels used with inorganic chemicals (i.e. harsh cleaning products)

    • magazines and any paper with that shiny / waxy composition

      • THE GENERAL RULE: If it doesn’t feel like regular printer paper, do not compost it!

  • DO compost:

    • clothing and linens made from 100% natural fibers, such as:

      • cotton, linen, wool, silk, cashmere, bamboo, hemp

      • Tencel

    DO NOT compost:

    • clothing / fabrics with any percentage of synthetic materials, such as:

      • polyester, nylon, rayon, acrylic, lyrca

      • elastane, spandex

      • microfiber, polar fleece

  • DO compost:

    • wooden popsicle sticks, toothpicks, chopsticks

    • pencil shavings

    • unpainted wood products

    • ash from wood

    DO NOT compost:

    • wood products with paint or inorganic chemicals on them

    • glass

    • plastics, saran wrap

    • metals, aluminum foil

    • products simply labeled “biodegradable” that do not meet the qualifications listed within our other sections
